Bidrage med feedbackDo not come here for lunch while they advertise as open, they are ill prepared to be running a lunch service and their website is inaccurate as to menu offerings. I came in for lunch with my mother and we were already remarking how small the menu, literally a postcard in our hands, was when our waiter came up to let us know they were out of 3 additional items. After scanning the menu and realizing our options were down hot/hearty meals an 88 degree day, we left and went down the street to Black’s. Very disappointing stuff.
Me and my wife stopped in at Duck Duck Goose on 6/28/23 at approximately 8:35pm. They close at 9pm according to their schedule. As we walked in, we were met by a young lady, a member of their waitstaff. We asked if we could get a table for two at which time she asked if we had a reservation. We indicated, no.She replied, we only take reservations .We noticed however, that there were numerous empty tables. So we went up the street to Mon Ami Gabi. We arrived there at approximately 8:48 pm. We were promptly seated and had a very nice meal. It 's been our experience, because we dine out frequently, that even if there is a a short period of time before the establishment closes, they will make a good effort to accommodate you.
Very nice little bistro, but be warned extremely noisy when busy. I had the short ribs and my sister had the scallops. Both were excellent. We had a little trepidation about ordering the guacamole appetizer in a French restaurant, but it was also delicious! I was looking forward to dessert because I saw they had chocolate mousse--my favorite. That was a disappointment, however. It basically tasted like whipped cream with a slight hint of chocolate flavor, and not the super rich chocolate mousse flavor I was craving!
We had a very good experience at duck duck goose. We went there on a Monday night to celebrate a birthday. Waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks option. Here is what we ordered:For starters we had: from 1 to 10, 10 being excellentFried Camembert 6Duck liver pate 7Burgundy escargot 10Charred cabbage 5For main course we had:Cauliflower steak: 7Trout: 10 this was our favorite dish of the night)Seared scallops: 9Short rib Bourguignon: 9Overall, we had a really nice experience and we will definitely come back to this restaurant.
Interesting experience, not all good. Duck Fried Rice came with excellent duck in the fried rice and dry duck on the extra confit piece. Scallops were excellent in a curry style sauce but the accompanying rice was extremely under seasoned, and when added to the curry made the whole dish bland.Croissant bread pudding was almost excellent, with warm outside but cold inside, and creme brule was good but crunchy salt on top was very heavy on one side.Team of servers and bartenders tried very hard but were stretched thin, but they were cordial and tried to take good care of patrons.I'm confident the restaurant would be a 5/5 if the few things leveled up a bit, like the duck confit, more attention to detail (like refilling water) was top of mind, and just more finesse.
