Marie Callender's - Azusa

My mother and I dined here today. The food was good. Our waiter, Alfredo R, did everything right. He was pleasant, patient, kept our drinks topped off, and could not have been better. He is an asset to their business. Hopefully, the management reads this and values him.

Everything was so good the service the food it was all good. Started with hot cornbread yummy. Mini pot pie with salad and pie the pot pie is always good here. Then potato soup it's fresh and just the right amount of potatoes and cheese. Then a Frisco burger perfectly grilled the meat I think is hand Made patty nice and thick. Even took some left overs The restaurant itself is a little outdated but clean and comfortable and always busy it brings in an older crowd.

We were excited to go to our old favorite today but we were disappointed. Our server welcomed us with a tiny wedge of cornbread instead of the generous square. The honey butter has been changed to honey margarine. Nog good at all! The rest of the good was ok. We had the open face turkey and meatloaf sandwich. The food was reduced in taste and portion. The cranberries had too much sugar and did not taste sour/tart at all but the turkey and stuffing were very good. The meatloaf was thin and kept falling out of the sandwich. We ordered pumpkin pie and chocolate satin for dessert. Both were ok but the taste relied too much on sugar instead of flavor. My $2.00 coffee arrived cold. Our waiter was only capable of keeping one thing at a time in his brain. We had to remind him to bring things we had already asked for. The entire place needs attention. It was dirty here and there, needed a patch on a ripped seat, a clean table cloth in the waiting area etc. Worst of all the picture of Marie was covered with some poster standing in front! WOW! It's not the same MC sadly.

I'm usually not one to leave reviews, but this is the exception. Where do I even start? Well, for starters, the service. The bartender at this location, Chelsy, is hands down my go to bartender. She has made the place so welcoming and her personality is top tier. I know when I come here and Chelsy is working, I will be taken care of and have tons of laughs along the way. Her smile and vibe she brings to this location should not go unnoticed! She is truly the best and I'm happy she's there! It's because of that, that even after long hours of work, I will find my way to here and hope that Chelsy is working. Needless to say the food is great and whenever Chelsy recommends something, I know it's gonna be bomb haha

The happy hour food and drinks are absolutely delicious and so affordable. Chelsea is so attentive with her service and on top of all her orders, she awesome! The restaurant is very comfortable and clean. Thank you Chelsea for catering to us tonight.
