Takohachi Japanese - Arlington

A great middle ground sushi spot versus going an all you can eat sushi. Price per price is $1.50 but some items on the menu do vary. The peices are quite larger but packed with rice. They also happen to have Uni, for an additional price. At the time we ate it was a bit mushy, wet and funky almost spoiled sea water taste. Overall, a very mediocre restaurant. I live walking distance so we?ve been here a few times their sushi is okay. The quality of fish and freshness depends on the day but the portion sizes are good for the price. The ramen here is sub par as well. Service has been mediocre all 3 times we?ve been here they are not attentive and have gotten our order wrong 2/3 times but no apologies or compensation ever. This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants of all time! I have gone to Takohachi probably around 10 times now. Every time the food is so delicious. The cook does an amazing time. We are always so impressed with how authentic the food is! Best Japanese food I?ve had in the US (yes, I?m Japanese). Do yourself a favor and eat here, you won?t be disappointed! They recently raised the price of their sushi from $1 to $1.50 D: That may not seem like a lot, but that's a 50% upcharge, and that adds up quickly. Overall though, the nigiri was decent. Kind of a shame that they pre-cut the slices of fish beforehand so it is not super fresh, but kinda get what you pay for lol. The smoked salmon, yellow tail, and tuna were divine though. A bit disappointed in the sushi. I recognize to not expect a lot for $1 however 2 (scallop and yellow tail belly) of the 5 were very fishy, the pieces were small and the presentation was a bit messy. We sat at the bar and it was a bit underwhelming. The old location was always fantastic and we used to go 2-3x per month for the 1$ sushi and because the staff was fantastic. Not sure about this new location??.
