Golden Gate Restaurant - Amherstburg

After giving it another try a year later, I was surprised to find that the food at this restaurant had even less flavor than before. I don't think I'll be returning again. I ordered delivery and the order was correct, arrived in a reasonable time, and the delivery man was friendly. However, the food was disappointingly bland overall. The egg foo young was decent, but the chicken gravy was lacking in flavor and the beef lo mein tasted like it had been boiled. They also didn't include complimentary white rice like some other local places do. I would give this restaurant 2.5 stars if possible, but I don't want to harm a business that may still be trying to improve. I might consider trying again in another year.

Food was very good, fresh and warm. Waitresses are very nice. Location is easy to find and close to shopping centre.

Golden Gate has reopened under new management and we love it. We no longer have to drive to Windsor for Chinese food. Excellent quality, fresh and delicious, very clean with good service. Buffet on the weekends is fantastic, and take-out is always hot and fresh. We've waited 20 years for a quality Chinese restaurant in Amherstburg...............thanks for reopening.

Unfortunately our experience was not good. our waiting time was about two hours for our order and when the order was not correct. our family has a heavy allergy on mushrooms and who took our order wrote it on our bill still our chicken chow my came with mushrooms. the other sweet in the plate was hard and undercooked. we were very disappointed.

The food at this restaurant is bland and not served at the right temperature. The staff was polite, but I likely won't be ordering from here again.
